PHP MySQLi mysqli

mysqli() functions is used to initialize the connection string.

Syntax mysqli

  • HOST: is the hostname or the ip address of the hostname. (localhost)
  • USER: username to access to the MySQL server
  • PASS: user password
  • DBNAME: database name
$db = new mysqli(HOST, USER, PASS, DBNAME);

Example 1

define('HOST', 'localhost');
define('USER', 'user2000');
define('PASS', 'password2000');
define('DBNAME', 'w3cyberlearning');

$db = new mysqli(HOST, USER, PASS, DBNAME);

if ($db->connect_errno) {
	echo "Failed to connect to MySQL: (" 
      . $db->connect_errno . ") " . $db->connect_error;
} else {
	echo 'conn';
}

$db->close();
?>
