PHP function reset

This function resets the array and point to the first array element.

Syntax reset

  • array: array input
reset(array);

Example 1

$array = array(
	 'Semester 1',
	 'Semester 2',
	 'Semester 3',
	 'Semester 4',
	 'Semester 5',
	 'Semester 6',
	 'Semester 7',
	 'Semester 8'
);


// by default, the pointer is on the first element semester 1
echo current($array) . "<br />"; // "semester 1"

// skip two semesters
next($array); // 
next($array); // 

echo current($array) . "<br/>"; // semester 3
// skip three semesters
next($array); //
next($array); //
next($array); //

echo current($array) . "<br />"; // "semester 6"

// reset pointer, start again on semester 1
reset($array);
