PHP function fclose

This function closes an open file and free up memory.

Syntax fclose

  • file: file handle create by the fopen() function.
fclose(file);

Example 1

$file_handle= fopen("myfile.txt","r");

fclose($file_handle);

Example 2: After read file content, we close it

$my_file = 'fruits.txt';
$lines = fopen($my_file, 'r') or exit('unable to read');

while (!feof($lines)) {
	echo fgets($lines);
	echo "<br/>";
}
fclose($lines);
?>
