PHP function mkdir

This function makes a directory.

Syntax mkdir

  • directory: name or path of the directory
  • mode(optional): permission of the directory. Read linux permission for detail.
  • recursive(optional): sets true to make nested directories specifies in the directory
  • context (optional): sets the context of the file handle which specifies and modify the

behavior of a stream.

mkdir(dirctoryname,mode, recursive, context);

Return

Return TRUE when success, or otherwise return FALSE.

Example 1

   for($i=0; $i<5; $i++) {
     mkdir('aa_'.$i);
   }
?>

Example 2

<?php 
    mkdir('/test/sophal/abc',0777,true);
?>

Output

/test/
/test/sophal
/test/sophal/abc
