PHP function rewind

This function rewinds the position of a file pointer.

Syntax rewind

fd is a valid file pointer that created by fopen() function.

rewind(fd);

Note

  1. rewind($fd) is same as fseek($fd, 0, SEEK_SET),
  2. uses the ('a' or 'a+') mode means to write to the file with appended.

Example 1

$handle = fopen('test3.txt', 'r+');

fwrite($handle, 'great leader.');
fwrite($handle, 'Goodoor');

rewind($handle);
fwrite($handle, 'first');
rewind($handle);

echo fread($handle, filesize('test3.txt'));

fclose($handle);
?>

Output

first leader.Goodoor
